Because of the Blood: What the Cross Still Means for You Today

The Question That Still Matters

Every April, during the Easter season, the world and the Church seem to pause to reflect on the cross… the sacrifice… and the empty tomb.

But there is one question that cuts deeper than all the celebration:

Are you, we, they, washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Not:

  • Are you a church member?

  • Do you know the truth?

  • Were you raised in a Christian home?

But—have you been washed? Because everything we commemorate this weekend means nothing personally… if the blood has not been applied.

We Were Far Off—But the Blood Brings Us Near

The Bible reminds us in Ephesians 2:12–13 that we were once:

  • Without Christ

  • Without hope

  • Without God in the world

That’s not just struggle—that’s separation. Sin didn’t just make life difficult—it disconnected us from God. But then comes the turning point:

“But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.”

The blood didn’t just improve our situation… it restored our relationship.

Why Blood? Understanding God’s Plan of Salvation

Leviticus 17:11 explains a critical truth: “For the life of the flesh is in the blood… it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.”

Blood represents life. God reserved blood for one sacred purpose: Atonement.

In the sanctuary system, we see:

  • Sin leads to death

  • A substitute gives life

  • Blood carries that life

This wasn’t symbolic—it was instructional.

Three Responses to the Blood at the Cross

At Calvary, the same blood was shed… but people responded differently.

1. The Thief Who Believed

One thief mocked—but the other said: “Lord, remember me.”

He had no time to fix his past… yet Jesus assured him of paradise. The blood of Christ assured his salvation.

2. The Centurion Who Recognized

A Roman soldier, hardened by executions, declared: “Truly, this was the Son of God.” The blood of Christ made that truth most relevant.

3. The Crowd Who Walked Away

They saw everything… yet remained unchanged. The reality is this: The same blood is available to all—but not all receive it.

The Cross Was Not the End—It Was the Beginning

Many stop at the cross—but Scripture takes us further. Hebrews 9 teaches that Jesus:

  • Entered the heavenly sanctuary

  • Offered His own blood

  • Now ministers as our High Priest

Even now, Christ is working on your behalf. This is a vital truth:

👉 The cross was the sacrifice
👉 Heaven is where the blood is applied

What the Blood of Jesus Does for You

The blood of Christ is not just theological—it is transformational.

1. It Redeems You

You are brought back into relationship with God.

2. It Cleanses You

“Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.” (Isaiah 1:18)

3. It Purifies Your Conscience

It doesn’t just fix behavior—it transforms your heart.

4. It Connects You to Christ

Communion is not just remembrance—it is participation.

Don’t Just Believe in the Blood—Apply It

Many people believe in the cross… But they never apply its power to their lives. You must appropriate the blood through faith and prayer. That means:

  • Asking God to forgive your sins

  • Claiming Christ’s sacrifice personally

  • Covering your life and situations in prayer

The power is not in your worthiness— it’s in His sacrifice.

Why This Matters Now: Judgment Is Real

Hebrews 9:27 reminds us: “It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”

Life is not endless opportunity. But here’s the good news: Christ “was once offered to bear the sins of many… and will appear… unto salvation.” The same Jesus who shed His blood… is coming again.

Are You Washed and Ready?

God makes an incredible invitation: “Come now… though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.” No matter:

  • Your past

  • Your mistakes

  • Your failures

The blood still works. Because of the Blood… And because of the blood:

  • You can be forgiven

  • You can be restored

  • You can be made whole

So the question is not whether Jesus died… The question is: Have you received what He gave?

My friend, the cross is not just history. It is not just theology. It is not just a symbol. It is your only hope.

Confess, repent, and accept Him today. Because of the blood… everything can change!
