The Power Problem We Can’t Ignore
Across churches today, a sobering reality is unfolding:
Nearly 40–70% of young people disengage or leave the church in early adulthood
The very group with the greatest potential is often the most underutilized
And yet, we know this truth:
“The greatest wealth and strength of any nation is its youth.”
So the question becomes:
👉 If youth are so powerful… why are we losing them?
The answer is not that they lack power.
The answer is that their power is often untapped… restrained… leashed.
The Leashed vs. Unleashed Reality
Imagine a large, aggressive dog barking, growling, and lunging.
But it’s on a leash.
People walk by:
Laughing
Mocking
Teasing
Why?
Because they know it’s restrained.
But let that leash break… Everything changes.
People don’t laugh anymore.
They don’t mock anymore.
They run.

Spiritual Insight
This is exactly how the enemy views many believers today.
A restrained Christian is not a threat
A passive church is not dangerous
A silent generation is easy to ignore
But when believers—especially young people—are unleashed through the Holy Spirit…
👉 Darkness retreats
👉 Fear shifts
👉 Impact multiplies
The Promise of Power (Joel 2:28–32)
Scripture declares:
“I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy…”
Notice who is included:
Sons
Daughters
Young men
This is not reserved for a select few. This is God’s plan for an entire generation.
The Preparation for Power (Acts 1:4–8)
Before power came, Jesus gave one instruction:
👉 Wait.
The disciples had:
Walked with Jesus
Heard His teachings
Witnessed miracles
But they still needed power. And while they waited, they were:
Praying
United
Surrendered

Key Principle
👉 Power is not automatic—it is received.
You can:
Be in church and still lack power
Know truth and still lack impact
The Release of Power (Acts 2:1–4)
Then came Pentecost.
“And suddenly…” The Holy Spirit fell, and everything changed.
Fear turned into boldness
Silence turned into proclamation
Weakness turned into power
What Changed?
The leash came off.
The Untapped Potential of Youth
Throughout Scripture, God consistently used young people:
Joseph
David
Jeremiah
Esther
Mary
Even Jesus in His early years
Many made their greatest impact in their youth. History confirms the same pattern:
Innovators
Reformers
Leaders
The Real Issue: Not Lack of Power, But Lack of Release
Here is the uncomfortable truth:
Sometimes we don’t lose youth because they lack power…
We lose them because we restrict their power.
We hesitate to trust them
We fail to empower them
We limit their opportunities
Meanwhile… The enemy aggressively targets them because he knows their potential
How Do We Unleash This Power?
1. Invest in Them
Mentorship, discipleship, intentional development
2. Pray With Them
Not just activities—but spiritual empowerment
3. Position Them
Give them real opportunities to lead and serve
4. Release Them
Trust them with responsibility and mission
A Critical Shift
You don’t discover power by watching. You discover power by doing
Thus, the question is not: Do our youth have power?
The question is: Will we unleash it?
Because when God’s people are unleashed:
Lives are transformed
Communities are impacted
The mission accelerates
The Power Is Already There
The power is not missing. It’s not gone. It’s not unavailable. It is simply waiting to be unleashed.
So, What Are You Going to Do?
Are you ready to be filled with God’s Spirit?
Are you ready to step into your calling?
Are you ready to move from restrained to released?
Now is the time.
